Incomprehensible Loss

Sorrow filled me from head to toe
Grief towered over me as I hid
In the dark corners of my mind
I collapsed. The weight of such pain
Impossible to bear
The darkness once cold
Felt warm and inviting to share
“Sit here with me” my heart whispered
“Sit here and hold all those memories so dear
Hug them close and they won’t ever disappear.”
And cry and sigh and scream
And yell and cry some more
Beat your chest and howl
Let all that energy flow
The river of sorrow shall flood you no more.
And when at last the time does come
Remember this my dear sweet one:
They are not gone nor forgotten.
In your heart,
In your mind’s eye,
And in your soul,
they live on
Ever present and all around
Their spirits, only a prayer away.
And do take care, such pain may never
Ever heal but in time it will be lighter to bear.
